About Us

ACAP RDC mission is to continuously identify and respond to the child care needs in our region through education, advocacy and the creation of quality child care choices.

ACAP RDC is the Child Care Resource Development Center for Aroostook County, Maine. We are a community service organization that works with parents, child care providers, businesses, and community organizations to help promote the availability of quality child care services in Aroostook County.

ACAP RDC provides parents with child care referrals and information on evaluating quality child care, administer a subsidy program that helps to defray the cost of child care for income eligible families, and provide resources on various parenting issues. Childcare providers are provided technical assistance and access to valuable training and support services for new or established programs.

ACAP RDC, located in Presque Isle, is a public/private partnership that provides services to parents, child care providers, and employers. ACAP RDC is your local Resource Development Center for Aroostook County. Our program includes resources and referral information, provider training, and a variety of consultation services.

Since 1987, ACAP RDC has helped many parents find child care by offering information and assistance in choosing and evaluating child care programs.

ACAP RDC assists local area employers to respond to the child care needs of their employees. Child care resource and information programs inform employees about options regarding the availability of quality, reliable child care in their community. Research indicates that when employees feel confident in their ability to secure the kind of child care they want for their children, employers enjoy the benefits of improved morale, reduced absenteeism, less turnover, and better public relations.

Because we do not investigate child care providers, we cannot guarantee the capabilities or quality of services offered by individual providers, nor can we accept liability arising from your investigation of or decision to select a child care provider for your family. You can check to see if a program has a complaint history by calling Department of Human Services (207) 287-5060 and asking for the Day Care Licensing Unit.
