Downeast Community Partners (DCP) and Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) are pleased to announce a formal partnership, approved by both Boards of Directors, to explore the development of a stronger, unified service delivery model for Washington, Hancock, and Aroostook Counties.
This joint effort is rooted in a shared commitment to preserve and enhance essential community services in the face of significant financial and operational challenges currently facing DCP. By working together, both organizations seek to ensure long-term program sustainability, strengthen service delivery systems, and maintain strong local representation in governance and decision-making.
As part of this partnership, both Boards have approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that outlines the intentions, shared goals, and next steps for a potential integration of services and operations. Under the MOU:
This process will be guided by the principles of transparency, collaboration, and responsiveness to community needs. Protecting and strengthening services for the people of Washington, Hancock, and Aroostook Counties remains the top priority. Regular updates will be shared with staff, partners, and the broader community as work progresses.
DCP and ACAP are grateful for the continued support of our community stakeholders and look forward to building a stronger future together.
